I acquired a love for woodworking at a very young age. In grade 7 I was always first in line to get to woodshop class to turn the requisite laminated bowl on the lathe. Through high school at Barrie District North Collegiate, my interest was fostered under the guidance of Mr. Robert Watson whose bellowing voice could be heard over the loudest machinery. My university life took me to Carleton University where I graduated with a degree in Industrial Design in 1985.

I worked as an Industrial Designer specializing in furniture design for many years and to this day woodworking is the perfect antithesis to my daily life as a pre-sale engineer for Hitachi ID Systems. It gives me a great break from life at the computer and never ceases to amaze me when something I have made makes people go "wow".
